Townsville local Callum McMahon, now known as Billy The Kid, is taking on NQ one nightclub at a time. Over the last three years 'The Kid' has played at nearly every nightclub and bar worth mentioning in Townsville. Starting as a weekly resident at Cactus Jacks Saloon on Flinders St, in 2009, known as the party starter, Billy quickly grew in popularity and secured his first nightclub residency at The Consortium Nightclub in early 2010

Within a short 8 months Billy scored many large support sets, playing alongside The Potbellez, Stafford Bros and Emily Scott to name a few. After being largely pursued by other night spots within Townsville, Billy The Kid ended his residency at The Consortium in August 2010, opening up a title wave of new gigs, new genres and a whole new following. Playing his first set at The Bank Nightclub in September 2010, Billy The Kid was offered the residency position immediately, after bringing a new light into a somewhat darker heavily commercialised music scene.

Now holding down residencies at The Bank Nightclub, Heritage Bar and Rhino Bar. The huge following behind Billy The Kid and his ability to make any set sound like a 'jumpingʼ house partyʼ helped secure 'The Kid' a monthly residency for the largely accredited and hugely popular Full Moon Down Under parties, held on Magnetic Island X Base. It is here that he has played to crowds of 1600+ and gained support sets alongside Krafty Kuts, Baby Gee, Timmy Trumpet, Ajax, The Aston Shuffle and many more.

Playing his first festival in late 2010, Full Noise Music Festival, Billy shone the spot light on his abilities and gained much recognition from his peers. Now being regarded as one of Townsvilleʼs best, Billy The Kid is working in correspondence with LA Walker Dj's and has found himself branching out and securing gigs in Hamilton Island, Airlie Beach and as far north as Cairns. This campaign has lead to gaining similar support slots at Mackay's Riversessions 2011 Music Festival, opening for the likes of Kid Kenobi & MC Shureshock, Gold Fields and many other great Australian artists.

This self proclaimed perfectionist can be found at many night spots along Flinders St on any given weekend, playing anything from commercial hip hop, funky disco and jackinʼ house beats. When asked about his music Billy The Kid leaves nothing to the imagination: ʻPersonally there's nothing i love more than funky cool house, nu disco and any hip hop with a banging baseline, i love making sets as unpredictable and as fun as possible. If i could describe them as anything they'd be the sort of set you're likely to hear at a jumpin' house party - lots of different genres, you're favourite old school tracks and a bunch of new funky tunes to make you get loose! ʻ

This is why it would be easy to assume that Billy The Kid is one kid you donʼt wanna miss out on.
