BIG TUNES started in October 2008 when 3 selectors (Ed West, Jah Ryan and Fafalong) from two underground sound systems joined forces to put on local reggae/dancehall nights in their home town of Reading for the simple reason that there weren't many around. They started off doing a night in a local bar (over the road from Ed's house) and have never looked back....!

They soon relocated their fortnightly Wednesday night session to a more suitable venue, Bar Iguana which is renowned for its dub and reggae nights. After their first night the word soon spread and just 4 events passed before the management asked them to swap for a Saturday due the success of the night and the increased bar takings.

Over the next couple of years they built up a reputation as the areas premier roots, reggae and dancehall event with their guaranteed infectious party vibe. They have brought in acts such as The Heatwave, Dub Boy, Mr Benn and The Drop to play alongside the ever expanding BIG TUNES family, who are now in high demand themselves. Their involvement with the multi genre Bass Binge nights provided a stage to show case the likes of Top Cat amongst others.
