Beto Porto – Style, personality and Musical Influences – My work could be musically defined as a mixture of Brazilian rhitms. It’s a mix of traditional samba with funk-samba, baião with milonga habalera ( a typical rhythm from the south of Brazil), electronic dance music with Latin rhythms, always emphasizing the sophisticated harmony and the well developed arrangements, using typically Brazilian instruments, such as cavaquinho, timbales, etc.

I would define my music as universal, with traces of Brazilian and Latin rhythms, with lyrics of a peculiar and objective language, about several subjects like love and nature.

I search for my inspiration in Brazilian musicians like João Bosco, Djavan, Ivan Lins, Tom Jobim, Lenine, and i believe that my songs are much like theirs. I would say that my work is a mix of the work of these composers with my own style, mainly in the rhythm mixtures.

Beto Porto – Countries for my Music – Brazilian music is well accepted all around the world, but especially in Europe. Knowing the musical style of my work, I believe that in some European Countries, like Portugal, Spain and France, the acceptance would be easier.
In North America, I point out the USA, because many Brazilian musicians are already playing in this country with great success, and also because a great amount of Brazilians live in the United States, and always valorize the musicians from our country.

Beto Porto - Songs - I have chosen songs with Latin and Brazilian rhythms, which I identify to, and which fits the intention to work with typical rhythms from my country (Brazil). With this objective I have chosen sambas, baião and Latin rhythms, like salsa mixed with axé, that valorize our culture.
