Bentone and TheUntz.com welcome you to the Throbzone. Benton Alexander, one half of the Cornhusker State's dub-hop duo BASSthoven, has been honing his solo craft with the sole intention of taking his innate talent for bass, and driving it off a cliff into the weird wildness of psychedelia. Throbzone is a twisted tale of four boundless personalities manifesting unhinged psychobabble on an unsuspecting therapist. Dark and gritty, melodic and unrepentant, this EP is a special breed of low-end mayhem.
"Throbbin Hood" captures the mischievous madman on a late-night raid. Blaring synths and Monster Mash bass fuel the thrilling adventure. "Throb Lowe" is as put together as its handsomely chiseled inspiration in a tailored suit. A grinding, sensual number, there's no question this track will bang anything on two legs. Classy 8-bit hip-hop undergirds "Throbert DeNiro." It's all about those glimmering synths poppin' off of deep grooves. "Tom Throbbins" descends into beat mechanics. Wonky rhythms give way to trippy runs and buzzing bass stabs.
Alexander is making a statement. He's taking bass in a whole new direction, not for the faint-of-heart or weak of constitution. This isn't a pop album masquerading as hip bass for the kids. This is Bentone's Throbzone. Buckle up.
