Here's the FINAL MIX of Days On Juno's "Colours" for Nolly's Mixing Competition.

I used Studio One Pro v2.5 for mixing and the primary mastering plugin I used was iZotope's Ozone 5 Advanced. Mixed without proper monitoring but auditioned in several, several different places with different systems. Part of why it took so long to finish.

    Among the plugins used are:
    STUDIO ONE PRO STOCK
    - Pro EQ, all tracks almost
    - Compressor, almost all tracks
    - Tricomp, guitars mostly
    - Limiter, bass needed taming
    - Binaural Pan, anything that needed to be widened or narrowed
    - Mixverb, overheads
    - OpenAIR, on the kick verb near the end
    - Room Reverb, cleans, vocals, snare, kick verb
    IZOTOPE OZONE 5
    - Exciter, lots of triode on this one, especially drums and bass
    - Dynamics, overheads got a bunch
    SOFTUBE
    - Saturation Knob, killed the room mics with it to beef up the drums
    NATIVE INSTRUMENTS
    GUITAR RIG 4
    - Tape Echo on vocals and guitar lead at the end
    - Cabinet simulation on bass
    ADOBE AUDITION CS6 STOCK
    - Full Reverb
    - Convolution Reverb
    - both used to create the reverse effect on the snare
    CELEMONY MELODYNE
    - used to create the 2nd verse's harmony double

That's pretty much it. I nearly used Waves' Kramer Master Tape after the master effects, but decided not to because it took out some low mids that were crucial to making the mix sound powerful in the guitar department. I also didn't get to play with it until after I made the mix final, so it would be jeopardizing the perceived quality of the mix. But trust me, KMT does some incredible voodoo magic the mids and low end that I can't explain. I'll for sure be putting some of that on the "Fix You" cover I'm working on.

Pretty confident, but to quote one of the contestants on day one, "Let the best knob twister win!"
