UPDATE: no significant changes... I did add a line over the last part, but that's about it. just wanted to put it up so that it'd be obvious I haven't forgotten the song.
Beginning production of Constellation. I'll be brutally honest, it's a sad song. However, I'm more than proud of the technicalities involved in producing it. I used my Zoom G9.2tt as the interface through which I recorded vocals, bass, and guitar. The bass effects (compression, amp modeling, noise reduction) were done in Guitar Rig 4, mixing about 80/20 DI/amp before tube compression.
The guitar effects were all processed ON THE G9.2tt before heading straight into LeCab2, where I used a Red Wire Marshall 1960A cab impulse. Depending on the application, I used different mics and placements to acheive the necessary tone, and I used ambient mics to fill up empty sounds. The distorted part at the end is my Epic1959 patch, which uses a Marshall SuperLead 100 model 1959 amp head cranked all the way up, with a treble booster on the way in. It's slightly compressed at the input and uses the tube preamp (as opposed to solid state). EQ smooths out low end and boosts high end, mostly in the "presence" range. Nearly driving the post-FX tube preamp and boost knob is at 12 o'clock. From there it's straight to Red Wirez, in this case the Marshall 1960A cab with a Neumann KM84 about 5 inches back from the cone. Used another KM84 1 inch off the back of the cab. No ambient effects were applied.

Also some of you may take this as a shock that I'm writing such a sad song. And I'll point you to the EP. It's my style. Deal with it. :D
