About

Born in the UK and migrating to Australia at a young age, Ben soon found his love for music growing, as well as his collection of Jackson Five vinyl records. At the age of twenty Ben took to the turntables and soon found himself playing at some of Sydney’s hottest clubs such as, The Globe, Soho and Sounds on Sunday. It was there, at Sounds on Sunday, where Ben was unearthed by legendary Moneypennies promoter Scott Robertson, the man behind KINK and now Sydney’s famed Nevermind Night Club. Having carved out such a huge name in the local scene in such a short period of time Ben was then made resident at KINK where he started to really define his infectious sound, while still drawing on his house roots.

There is no denying that Ben was the musical driving force behind the success of KINK at The Arthouse in Sydney. It was during his residency there that Ben won the NSW leg of the first ever ‘Heineken Found At Thirst’ competition, however he was narrowly beaten in the Final in Melbourne later that year which was judged by non other than Pete Tong and Tiesto.

The success of KINK translated into the release of two mix compilations through Ministry Of Sound, both of which were mixed by Ben, with the helping hands of KINK International favourites Moguai and Sharam Jey. This lead to Ben hitting the road on constant interstate tour nights around the country at places like Ambar in Perth, Famous in Melbourne, Platinum on the Gold Coast as well as Empire in Brisbane, at many of which Ben still holds regular guest spots at today.

In 2005 Ben was given his first ‘Big Day Out’ ‘Boiler Room’ set, one of the most sought after festival gigs in the country. He followed this up by playing three more BDO shows in the past four years, each time playing to bigger and bigger crowds and supporting some of the biggest acts in the country. His festival sets were not just limited to the Big Day Out; Ben has been a regular at Good Vibrations Festival, We Love Sounds and Future Music Festival.

2006 saw Ben take eighth place in the ‘In The Mix Top 50’ competition, and also saw him ranked at number five in NSW, which was testament to his constant fresh approach to new music, choosing to set musical trends rather than follow them. That year Ben embarked on a tour of Asia, where he incorporated gigs in China and Thailand, and was extremely well received. He backed this up by two consecutive yearly tours of Europe including gigs in Ibiza, London, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Hosting local dance radio show Sunset on FBI was next on the agenda for Ben. Along side fellow DJ James Taylor, the pair have been one of the highlights of many a listeners Friday night with a variety of guests and cutting edge new music. In late 2008 Ben was given a record breaking gig, playing the opening set at Australia’s first ever ‘Sensation White Party’ on New Years Eve in Melbourne. The party broke the world record for the largest crowd at an indoor dance event. He backed this up the following year playing at Sensation White for the second time.

Ben has since turned his hand to production and has been working in the studio with Tim Jirgenson. The pair have released tunes on ‘Beatcode’ and ‘Brown Eyed Boyz’ and still have an arsenal of unreleased material set for release later this year. Their sound is very diverse, incorporating minimal, tech house and techno but still keeping a solid groove. Their latest release ‘Phone’ grabbed the attention of Hernan Catteneo, whom Ben warmed up for just recently at Sydney’s ‘Likes of You’ party. The pair recently remixed to Ministry of sounds off shoot label Hussle. Their remix of Klaus Hills track Slammer was the pick of the remixes by many DJs .Ben has also hit the studio with fellow DJ tony Venuto for a series of colloboration tracks that have grabbed the attention of many of Sydneys large labels and they have many tracks due for release this year.

Proving his Diversity as a DJ Ben has also supported the following DJ’s over the years: Sasha, Danny Howells, James Zabiela, Eric Morillo, Felix Da Housecat, UNKLE, Carl Cox, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Tocadisco, Justice, Soulwax, DJ T, Pig and Dan, MANDY, Freestylers, King Unique, Funkagenda, Desyn Masiello, Paolo Mojo, Joris Voorn, Oliver Hunteman, Stephan Bodzin, Jona, Lee Burridge, Chris Lake, Sebasten Leger, Laidback Luke, Tom Novy, DJ Hyper, Joey Negro, Sharam Jey, Moguai, Spencer Parker, Mark Knight, David Duriez , Kiko, Paul Woolford, Audio Fly, Dirt Crew, Mike Monday, Clive Henry, Kevin Griffiths, Zoo Brazil, Heidi, Ivan Smagge, Martijn TenVelden, Boyz Noise, Gene Farris, Paul Harris, MYNC Project, Cassius, Bob Sinclar, DJ Falcon, David Guetta, Joachim Gerraud, and Dimitri from Paris.

Ben has grown into one of the most respected Dj..s currently frequenting the Australian dance scene, both by his peers and the anticipating crowd. He currently holds down residencies at leading nights such as Musik Matters and Likes Of You, and top clubs Soho, Moulin Rouge, World Bar and the world famous Home nightclub... Ben is indeed one to keep an eye on this year.
