I was digging through the crates working on a mix the other day and I was feeling in need of a little Poindexter action. Poindexter is one of my all time favorite drum programmers from the golden years of Chicago. I was going to just do a quick re-rub for a mix I was working on just to add a little flavor. Instead, I ended up doing a full remixing it and some edits. I tried to leave the drums alone because they are just so damn classic...just a few extra chops and drops thrown in. I did add some classic old school bass, keys and fx to keep it true to the era...I think it grooves pretty nicely. It has an old Chicago meets old school Jersey/Zanzibar sound. I know you should not mess with the classics but I thought this turned out pretty cool.
