Uniquely fronted by two women, Bellewether found their alternative rock/pop legs through a process of performing everything from “Karma Police” to “On top of Spaghetti”. Known for their stage banter, this Calgary-based group will slap you across the face with meaningful lyrics while somehow enhancing their audience members’ opinion of themselves.

In February of 2013, Bellewether released their new single entitled “Afraid of the Light” which has garnered enough attention to be picked up by select radio stations across Canada. “Afraid of the Light” will be featured on their upcoming EP expected to be released in 2013. Bellewether has plans to perform several live shows in and around Calgary throughout the year.

Bellewether’s story began In February of 2009 when long time friends and theatrical co-workers Oksana Porteous and Carol-Anne Day decided to combine their creative stage juices into a new musical project. The later additions of drummer Graham Pendray and bass player Andrew Kobewka rounded out the group into the foursome that exists today. Bellewether has written over 30 original songs, performed at a handful of venues in Calgary, and released their first full length studio album entitled ‘Finding David’ in August of 2011.

Bellewether has been developing a driven sound that highlights layered harmonies. Described by many to contain sounds reminiscent of Canadian Artists Tegan and Sara, Metric, Stars, and Broken Social Scene, this group is excited to get their new sound and songs out; and are increasingly grateful for the energy that is flowing in their direction. 2013 proves to be an exciting year for the band!
