Frank Bravo (formerly of Brights, Meadowlark, and Trip to the Moon) and Collin Brown begun as 2-peice that started in Mid-January of 2011. The songs had their bare bones with Bravo's patchwork writing style, but needed more. One week before their first show at a former Wichita house venue, The Prime Meridian, Dez Hil, a trumpet major at Friend's University, joined the band and added his horny flavor. Ben Chambers soon added to the ensemble as bass player and Josue Estrada, another Friend's University student was added next only a week before Bellafonte's 2nd show. The band's sound was full, warm, and seemed complete. For the fifth show, Bellafonte was short one trumpet and asked Christy Oeur (formerly of Ratanana) to make up the difference on her violin. She has since become a member of the band because she sounded awesome.
In the late summer of that year, the band made several changes in the interest of the band's survival. Eric Selzer (formerly of Trip to the Moon) became the replacement for drums and Dane Alexander, another Friend's University music major became the new bassist. Dez Hill departed to Lawrence, Kansas and began an adjunct relationship with the band. Zac Palmquist (formerly of Brights) added ambiance and a certain richness to the music with synthesizer and auxiliary percussion. The six piece now takes pride in destroying a room with its eclectic bossa nova, western, hip hop, surf, latin, reggae, and whatever-suits-them influences.
