Mystery surrounds the origins of dem Bandits... some say they are completely insane for enlisting soldiers with slingshots, some describe them as Robin Hoods. The truth is to be found in ancient Summerian mysteries, occult books and mystery schools. Now you see them, now you don't. Knock on the door friendly and we'll let you in on our secrets...well, prolly not, but its worth the try.
We are Hip Hop and we don't mix our beloved sounds with silly noize pollution like CRap music, Hip Pop, Pop Rock or Tekkno...if we mix it with another genre you can be sure its gonna be like weed laced with blueberries. 420 style concerts around town and booking artists for a Europe trip is in our future cards. We promote Hip Hop and other dope styles of music, but be sure we give you a str8 up blunt answer...see everything revolves around a good ass time.
First we brought real Hip Hop back to Hamra and introduced General Knas to an unsuspecting public backed up by another Nordic grandmaster called DJ Stickfiggr...then we moved on to a dope ass concert with Termanology & his DJ Deadeye where the Creme De La Creme of Hip Hop opened up for them to warm up the stage like a green-house effect. Backed by Da Deaf Crew (Fareeq El Atrash) - FZ, Chyno & Edd were joined by Ramcess, Fahrass, RGB & Double A...That's the colors that i claim, mayn. Then we did a few Urban Rootz events with local talents like Mixity, Grandsunn, Venus, Ramcess & Karimbo, Qarar, Samer AK, DJ Mango, Heavy G, Malikah, Uncle Phill Banks, Nizar Ras and others to a great applaud. Hip Hop Slam, the first being Termanology & Da Deaf Crew, continued with Statik Selektah spinning the night away...those who came had an amazing night full of freestyles, friendly competitions and dope ass music. 100's of people passed by and every single one of 'em was grateful...Statik is such a great person.
2 weeks later we brought Rob Swift to Beirut and after complications with venues (thieves) we moved to the most unlikely place called EM Chill...now, this is a perfect human being, so we treated him like a king. Those who made it on mother's day know...they witnessed something spectacular, something you can't describe with words. Well, i will attempt to do so by inventing a word...utterly scrumtrellessant (it was James Lipton who said that).
Dem Bandits went on a hiatus in events untill the summer for a simple reason - Johnny Headbusta is a film maker too, so since April i went on to even direct an episode of Abu Riad shit and acted in a feature film - coming soon to a cinema near you. At the same time we put together a crew of good MC's who needed support, 3 languages, Qarar, Karimbo & Miracle Genius with Qarar & Samer AK producing...executive produced by moi, Headbusta, we went on to create the ringtone of the summer, a small addictive anthem and its accompanying video - a tiny gift for all those who supported us. In the meantime Beirut Bandits assisted in a successful Greek Film festival in Beirut & MEASAF festival in Athens.
We went to the studio again with the guys and recorded a few tracks...one of them you know...Change (a personal gem).
I was then away from Hip Hop except for promoting and getting leechers to leave us alone...Hip Hop is a state of mind...and we won't give it up for anyone.
Currently in a recording process with a nice roster of artists...Cuzins, DJ Mango, Aka Prime, Murder Eyez, Maze, Iron Curtain, Mi-Know & Constantine the G...we slowly but surely aim for one target - a well-respected beast of Hip Hop in da Middle East, promoters, booking agents, management crew and event organizers. Big things are coming up soon.
