About
Music educator and Head of Arts at the American International School in Kuwait, I have been teaching instrumental music for 15 years and am pursuing my passion for film score composition and sound design.
Studio-
I have a home studio and digital workstation for composition, film scoring, and sound design with a large library of wind, brass, string, and percussion samples, as well as an array of software synthesizers. My primary platforms for production and publication are Cubase 6 and Finale 2011 utilizing an array of peripheral programs, plug-ins, and emulators.
Film Scoring-
I am comfortable in a range of styles and find the collaborative nature of film scoring energizing. I take direction incredibly well, but am equally at ease striking out on my own. I pay close attention to detail and key in on the most poignant moments in a scene. Capturing the mood and striking the right tone means everything. Ultimately, my purpose in scoring is to help realize the director's vision for their film.
Educator and Musician-
Having taught in Illinois, Oregon and Kuwait, there are too many district, state and national recognitions to list here. Some of the many highlights of my teaching career include winning two GRAMMY Foundation Signature School Awards (2008, 2009) and hosting Wayne Bergeron (2008) as the featured soloist with my jazz ensemble performing professional charts by Gordon Goodwin, Bill Liston, and Tom Kubis.
Clinician-
As a clinician, I have presented at regional and national events in the United States and Kuwait, and have been selected to present at the Near East South Asia Conference in Athens, Greece. Perception of sound is central to my life and I am presenting research on the impact of sound environments, specifically noise, on student achievement. Inspired by Julian Treasure's "Sound Business" I have designed my Sound Learning (2012) presentation to increase awareness of the impact of noise in schools.
