About
Beezo has been a devout dubstep dj for over two years, originally being drawn to the genre by the offbeat, lo fi sounds of Kode9, Digital Mystikz, The Bug, Skream and Zomby it was only a matter of time before it became his primary field of interest. Since then he has witnessed countless boundaries being broken by the freshest and most innovative artists around - Joker, 2000F, Rustie, Sukh Knight, Silkie, Gemmy, Babylon System, Jazzsteppa, 6Blocc, Flying Lotus, and JSL to name but a few.
Initially having learnt to dj through drum & bass whilst living in Brighton in 2001 to 2004, plenty of this time was spent revisiting older and more atmospheric styles of jungle. With a long standing love for a wide variety of swing and percussive music, from jazz to latino, this diversity of taste was always evident in his transcendent mixing style incorporating artists such as Dead Dred, Ray Keith, DJ SS, Adam F, Krust, Aphrodite, Roni Size, Marky and Patife.
It was this same passion for new and diverse forms of music that later drove Beezo to move in a different direction, focusing instead on underground hip-hop, primarily from the UK. Labels such as Big Dada, Ninja Tune and Planet Mu, prolific as they are, along with the international influences of Stones Throw, provided the core of releases that, although sometimes having a more contemplative feel, were always produced with an unmitigated style and remain as fresh today as they ever have been.
All these early influences, combined with a broader love for music in many different forms, delivered Beezo into the dubstep scene from an ideal starting point grounded firmly in the midsts of the genres various roots.
Now based in Edinburgh, Beezo is looking to become more actively involved with the Scottish dubstep scene both in the capitol and in Glasgow, so if you like what you hear and are seeking out new talent locally then please get in touch.
