"Emily's Poem" (Batterie 012) allows the renewal of EDV’s style for the upcoming album "The Contemporary Cowboy" (release date: May 2011). Through the cooperation of the project's founder Soenke Duewer, who pulls as overall producer (under the pseudonym of Batterie du Verre) all the strings, with a completely new line-up, proves on their fourth album a far-reaching development of their unique sound universe. Special features here are catchy jazz-blues-cowboy guitar hooks and the intensive use of electronics and electronic sounds.
EDV makes the biggest leap, however, through the participation of three fantastic musicians. On the one hand the English tenor saxophonist Penrose Feast, furthermore the Berlin bassist Marc Muellbauer and last but not least, the Luebeck drummer Oliver Sonntag, who drums together with Soenke Duewer (drums & electronics) on some songs. The use of two drum-flows does not culminates in a wall of sound, but shows the ingenuity of two sensitive musician in dealing with groove and atmosphere.
This first single and anticipatory audition "Emily's Poem" appears together with a very fresh and independent remix of the two Dutch music hobbyists, compilers, and radio producers Rupert & Mennert. This remix shows the second distinctive work of the duo from Den Helder for Batterie. In the autumn of 2010, Ensemble Du Verre were invited to a concert in their hometown of Den Helder. Result of this meeting was not only a brilliant concert-evening, but the idea for another remix, presented here with joy.
In May, a further pre-single will be released with a remix of "A Green Meadow".
