About
About me:
Over the years, I've been lucky enough to DJ alongside some of the finest DJ’s out there, including: Kerri Chandler, DJ Deep, Jerome Sydenham, King Britt, DJ Spinna, Karizma, Phil Asher, Patrick Forge, Aronaught, Domu, Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson, Norman Jay, Gilles Petersen, Stuart Patterson and the The Idjut Boys. I'd like to think I can hold it down in any situation, I've played to some big crowds like over 1000 people at Montreaux Jazz Festival, but I'm just as happy bubbling for an intimate party of friends. I'm also one of the all-girl DJ collective known as the Ladyz (formerly Ladybugz).
I seem to be all about festivals these days and have had the chance to play at some of the cream of music festivals including the Worldwide Festival in France, Notting Hill Carnival, The Big Chill, The Garden Festival in Croatia and The Electric Picnic in Ireland, and I've played at some lovely corporate parties as far wide as Beirut.
Gig history for me: Worldwide (Sete, France), Faith (London), Electrik Soul (Manchester/London), Need2Soul (London), The Montreaux Jazz Festival, V Festival North and South, The Garden Festival (Croatia), The Big Chill Festival, The Electric Picnic (Wexford, Ireland), Clandestino (The End/AKA, London), Lodge Sessions (Fabric, London), Life&Soul (Madame Jo Jo’s, London), Bounce (Derry, N Ireland), The Big Chill House (London), SoulHouse (Lifthouse, London), The Remedy (Herbal, London) and Creme (Bacchus, Kingston).
I think it was growing in the80’s that gave me my 'sound'. I trained as a dancer, which meant I was exposed to classical and jazz from an early age, add to the mix my brother’s punk and new romantic records and my mother’s blues and soul collection, helped give me a diverse and immersive musical training. The late 80’s rare groove parties, a Balearic excursion to Ibiza in ’89 and listening to the deep house sounds from Chicago, New York garage and Detroit techno turned clubbing into an obsession for me.
So it was with this grounding and some years of record collating later, that inevitably Dj’ing followed. It was in 1994 that my DJ career kicked off leading to a residency for Dorado Records in 1999 and a 7 year residency from 2001-07 with Phil Asher and Patrick Forge at the legendary Inspiration Information at The Notting Hill Arts Club.
