"Hamam" remixed by Paul C. McKasty and edited by Paul and Chris Lawrence circa 1989, remastered by George Sempepos in 2010
Paul C. McKasty, a legendary behind-the-scenes figure in the evolution of the New York Hip-Hop sound, was a talented drummer, bassist and recording engineer who helped inspire and influence the Annabouboula sound in the late 1980s. We are proud to present a never-before heard version of the song that launched Annabouboula, "Hamam", as re-mixed by Paul C. and painstakingly edited (with dozens of tape splices!) By Paul, Chris and George. The lead guitar is by Bond Bergland; Chapman Stick Bass by Chris Cunningham; Chicken-pick guitar by George Barba Yiorgi; Percussion by Hearn Gadbois; and Anna Paidoussi is singing original Greek lyrics by Chris Lawrence that both satirize and pay homage to the old song "Mes "Tis Polis To Hamam" by Rebetiko pioneer Anestos Delias.
