Wer solche Freunde und Kollegen hat, kann eigentlich nicht lange traurig sein. Nach dem längsten und schönsten und endgültigsten Closing, erscheint nun das schönste, traurigste, persönlichste Release auf dem Bar25-Label. Wie der Nummern-Zufall so will, ist es – na, klar - die 25. Veröffentlichung. Und eben reinstes Family-Business, worauf wir fast schon etwas stolz sind. Die Abschluss-Platte sagt mehr über den Geist der Bar aus, als jeder gesprochenen und geschriebene Satz es je könnte. Jeder Song einzig und artig, zwischen Allgemeinheit und Bekenntnis. Die große Emotion, als hätten die Soundmaschinen angefangen zu atmen.
Velten hat, während die anderen schon lustig feierten und die letzten warmen Sonnenstrahlen genossen, im Studio gesessen. Er hatte die nicht allzu einfache Aufgabe, mal eben kurz vor Schluss DEN Abschlußtrack zu produzieren. Hat er geschafft. Denn Dirty Doering hat gerade einen verdammt guten Run. „bye bye bar25“ ist das Stück, das beim Closing gleichzeitig auf allen Anlagen zu hören war und was von nun an in unseren Ohren und Herzen bleiben wird.
Wie schwer Doering’s Aufgabe war, merkt man beim Hören dieses Stückes, an dem er sich messen lassen musste. Der Soundtrack zum Closing 2009, „Abschied25“ von Acid Pauli. Seine auf die Bar gemünzte Neubearbeitung des BonniPrinceBilly Songs, hat uns im letzten Jahr immer und immer wieder glücklich und traurig zugleich gemacht. Dass wir es nun endlich veröffentlichen können, ist uns eine innere Opening-Party.
Caspar saß den Sommer über meist an der Backstagetür und kontrollierte bunte Bändchen, dann überraschte er alle und sang als Capey Cash mit „There Was A Bar“ seine ganz eigene Liebeserklärung. Sein treffender Text, seine charaktervolle Stimme zu einer sehnsüchtigen Trompete und Mundharmonika, haben schon einigen die Tränen in die Augen getrieben und dennoch ist sein Stück auch voller Hoffnungen.
Teloy hat zuletzt beim Closing auf der großen Bühne Gänsehaut verteilt. „Der ist groß“ murmelte es im Publikum. Und ja, auch wir warten auf ein ganzes Album von Reecode. „Skinflower“ ist nun sein Beitrag zum Abschied. Eindringlich, ehrlich, eine große aufgehende Blume, voller Farben und schließlich doch reduziert. Ein Tanz der Postmoderne. Es geht weiter...

As pure dumb numerical luck would have it, it is - naturally - the 25th release. And, we're almost proud to say, it's strictly family business. The closing record speaks more to the spirit of the Bar than any words, spoken or written, ever could. Every track unique yet well-rounded, somewhere between universal and personal. Awash with emotion, as though the sound machines had begun to breathe.
While everyone else was already in full swing and enjoying the last warm rays of sunshine, Dirty Doering was ensconced in the studio, tackling the difficult job of producing THE closing track on short notice. He succeeded. That's because Doering is on a roll. "bye bye bar25" is the track that was sent through all the speakers at the closing, and will remain in our ears and hearts from now on.

The level of the challenge Doering faced becomes apparent when listening to what he had to measure up to: the soundtrack to the 2009 closing, Acid Pauli's "Abschied25". Adapted from a Bonnie 'Prince' Billy song, with the Bar in mind, this track made us happy and sad at the same time over and over again in the last year. The release of this track now, finally, is something of an inner opening party for us all.
Caspar spent most of this summer on duty at the backstage door, checking a neon rainbow of bracelets. Then he surprised everyone as Capey Cash with his own personal love song, "There Was A Bar". His aptly put lyrics and his rich voice in combination with the wistful sounds of trumpet and harmonica brought tears to many an eye - and nevertheless his track is full of hope.
Teloy spread goosebumps from the big stage for the last time at the closing too. Murmurs of "He's good..." could be heard throughout the audience. And yes, we are waiting for a full-length album by Reecode. "Skinflower" is his contribution to the farewell fanfare. Vivid, honest, a big blooming flower, full of color and yet reduced to its essence at the end. A dance of the postmodern. The party goes on...
