Euclidean Compilation Entries go here
Submitted for the Euclidean Rhythms Compilation at IDMForums.
I chose to explore the possibilities of just euclidean rhythm, 5-in-13, by looking at the rotational characteristics of the rhythmic string, bit-shifting it to the left or right until the next beat point appeared in the primary position (beat position 1).
1x--x--x--x-x- 2x--x--x-x--x- 3x--x--x-x-x-- 4x--x-x--x--x- 5x--x-x--x-x--
6x--x-x-x--x-- 7x-x--x--x--x- 8x-x--x--x-x-- 9x-x--x-x--x-- 10x-x-x--x--x--
I used these variations on the 5-in-13 rhythm to whip up a piece that explores melodic and rhythmic ostinato. To enhance the usage of the different versions of the pattern, I also used time scale variations making some double triple, 4 or even 16 times as long as the basic 13/16 pattern
The result is what is heard now. More time and many many more layers of rhythmic possibilities would come out in this piece.
