About
Averis (Casey Carter) is a rapper and song writer from Jacksonville, North Carolina. He is most known for his work with producer Tekone (Chad Carter) (located at c carters). His various other projects have included R&B and dubstep, as well as collaborations with male and female singers, other MCs, and producers. Most recently, he has worked with StayHigh (James White) (located at Obscene Planet) from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Casey did not start seriously making music until he was 18 years old. After enrolling at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, an older roommate of his played their own demo and subsequently introduced him to various underground hip hop acts. From there, Casey began writing lyrics and posting on them on Internet as a small time hobby, growing more and more infatuated with the thought of creating poetry and music.
Four years later, and without a degree to show for it, Casey left college and began recording on his own within North Carolina. His first recorded song was in January 2008 in a studio in Winston-Salem. Then, with his own demo in the works, James White provided him with a number of instrumentals to keep his creative process occupied.
As the year passed, Casey pushed the envelope lyrically and emotionally, and began to draw attention from outside sources. Tekone approached him from Virginia, and that project showed a progression in Casey's style that was difficult to miss. He began to do shows more frequently, and opened himself to a number of collaboration's, often on Tekone's beats, and proved that he was more than capable of making great music.
With interest growing in his music at home and abroad, and inspiration driving him forward, Averis pushes forward, laying down tracks and putting himself into position to acquire the success he craves. The music presented here is the culmination of two years worth of work, as well as new goodies fresh from the studio.
The moniker Averis is a derivation of the word Avarice, one of the seven deadly sins and more broadly defined as Greed. As he moves forward in music, Averis can only see the bright future that lies ahead of him if he continues to give his all...
