Audio Textures was formed in late 1999 set up and coordinated in the UK by Kevin Collier aka KC Distribution/Promotions, Rated X Recordings, City Lights Recordings. Kevin Collier has been involved within the electronic music scene since 1995 first helping a friend to promote and distribute the releases on his small independent hardcore/ drum and bass label called Out of Romford Records this soon led him to work 3 years at swiss company OffWorld Promotions who were based in London promoting and distributing for over sixty electronic labels nurturing the early experiments of Asad Rizvi, John Tejada, Ian O’Brien and Terry Mitchell. Kevin has also run his own small independent distribution service for 6 years which catered for all styles of dance music working alongside established companies and providing a unique service to sixty accounts nationwide, during this time he worked alongside small independent dance labels and established underground labels and soon gained a reputation for supplying quality products. After a brief break in the scene Kevin worked for Integrale Muzique where he help run their London office where he hooked up with Chicago house pioneer K Alexi Shelby and the respected Rated X imprint was born. Whilst K Alexi relocated to Chicago to seek other commitments the day to day running of the label was left in Kevin’s capable hands and this soon led to an artist roster that boasted some of the cream of Chicago signing up key producers like Robert Armani, Gene Hunt, Lester Fitzpatrick and Alvin Carr. These producers were soon asked to produce on the Audio Textures imprint alongside Dj Urban, Mike Wade and the cream of the UK Paul Langley and Terry Mitchell. Since the birth of Audio Textures the label has received great support from Ben Sims Evil Concussion Thrill/ HighBall Records Germany DJ Rush, Dave Clarke, Dj Ze Mig L Dave Angel, Jim Masters, Paul Langley, Robert Armani, Mike Wade, DJ Bold .Technasia, Inigo Kennedy,Antony Dupont,Laurent Garnier,Andrez Bergen, Mark EG and BCO Mack on the weekly internet show Bio Bass.The releases have received great press from Mark EG who gave Paul Birken Storm Serge EP single of the month in Mix mag and also some great reviews in Groove magazine in Germany and Overload Media. The concept of the label is provide quality electronic grooves and soundscapes from producers from around the globe covering all aspects of electronic music on digital format.
