Recorded samples from the concert set made with the installation 'Staalhemel'. These samples were recorded in a live set-up without audience present. Some were part of the concert set list, some not. Most of the recordings were made with a binaural microphone, others with a stereo mic in XY position.
'Staalhemel' is an installation that consists of 80 computer-controlled solenoids mounted on 80 steel plates with dimensions 700 x 700 x 2 mm which are all equipped with rubber dampeners to reduce resonance. All info on www.staalhemel.com or on www.deepblue.be.
Multiple solenoids striking the steel results in shifting rhythms, eerie overtones and noise bursts.
