I think you should keep it like the original since most people slam mix it here and the extended pause moves the whole track to an even more abrupt stop. I do like what you next, very mixable

@goldcode: I don't like the heavy tom part that comes in the original for this mix. I may tweak that break a tiny bit to lead into the next section more - but part of why its there is because its not necessarily what everyone expects.

Purely for fun and DJ set use - a quick edit of the classic 1988 track by Maurice. This was one of the first Chicago tracks I ever heard, as part of a Steve Master's mix on Live 105 sometime my junior year of high schoolLove Acid Uploaded by Audioelectronic Start following Send a message on February 09, 2009 20:55

Maybe a little less verb on those tom sounds. I think the conversion to Soundcloud MP3 may have adversely affected the overall sound quality a bit from the one I heard. I now think the toms should be in a shorter length reverb, maybe non-linear? Anyhoo...

I love this synth. I can really hear the MP3 artifacts here now. Also, I can hear the compressor release when the kick drum drops out. the overall level comes up a bit when the kick drops out. Not sure how much of a big deal that is but thought I should mention it. ;-)

snare drum room sounds bigger now than in the one I heard previously. I think a smaller room for the snare would be good as well. I really like this snare but I think the MP3 conversion has revealed some interesting issues that could be worth working on a bit.

this is where the goods are at right here. I think more of this section is a good thing personally. It makes me think about gettin' all luvved up. ;-)

push those clappy things a bit further back, at least on the right side? thining the mid range EQ can have that effect as well.

that's what I was missing in the earlier section. a bassline. This sounds very soulful; reflective and melancholy. Me likes...

the synth bit here sounds a tad bit distorted. I guess it could be my headphones or something to do with the MP3 conversion. eh... ;-)

make the white noise swell a bit more full with a left right stereo delay of a few milliseconds? I dunno. Tell me to go f*** a goat if you're sick of my comments.
- Audioelectronic on February 12, 2009 00:03
@darinmarshall: You can f*ck a goat if you like. I appreciate the comments! I'm looking to change some of my arrangement habits and this feedback is very very valuable - especially placed on a timeline.

one of the bassline notes here conflicts with the kick drum's pitch which is a bit weird. I just noticed this on a subsequent listen.

Me likey the vocal sample here, bassline release seems a bit short to me and could be more closed filter; just my stoopid $.02!

I like shorter breaks these days. Maybe be just a preference of mine. Also, coming out of a break, I would like a new sound to be introduced and some more emphasis. Maybe some 16th hats.

Here's the hook, imho. This is the best combination of parts in the whole tune. It happens earlier in the song as well but doesn't last long enough for my taste. ;-)
