This is the isolated horn section recording for the song "Shake" by The Macrotones.

Two AEA R84 microphones in a Blumlein coincident stereo arrangement were used to capture the horn section recorded in a booth.

    Microphone: AEA R84 Blumlein pair
    Preamp: Mercury V72
Recorded live to 2" 24-track at 15 ips on a Studer 827, and transferred to ProTools HD at 96 kHz/24-Bit via Digidesign 192 converters.

All instruments were recorded live in one room playing together, except for the horn section, which was in a booth. The bleed in the microphones picking up other instruments within the room was embraced and forms an important part of the sound of the finished mix.

    Produced by Sean Slade.
Recorded and mixed by Benny Grotto at Mad Oak Studio, Allston, MA. (www.myspace.com/madoak)

The streamed playback on Soundcloud is of low resolution and heavily data-compressed. Download the high-res linear PCM wave file recorded at 96 kHz/24 bit for optimum sound quality.
