sub⎹div podcast 9.0: Atma

For the latest (and late – sorry!) sub|div podcast, we get a cerebral mix of deep bass weight from The Weapon: Atma. He’s the cat responsible for the Vancouver’s Producer’s Forum, a monthly gathering of producers & DJs which aims to “to create a community that can serve as a learning space for those interested in music, how it works, how to make it, what works and what doesn’t, as well as have an opportunity to share the valuable experience that all of you have to offer“.

Atma’s mix is one to sink into – starting with familiar atmospheres to Vancouver transit users, the mix transistions through some smooth, shifting sub movements. Jack Sparrow is repped twice – a testament to the quality of Circadian, his debut full length on Tectonic – as is Emalkay. The tribal, perc-heavy doom of Icicle’s “Xylophobia” is always a winner (twas a hilight of Distance’s Rifflandia set) & Clueless’ remix of FSOL’s classic trance anthem is a killer re-up on a timeless hook. The textural crunk-pop of Baths rounds it out well. Sounds to us like it’ll be best enjoyed on a jaunt through the city…
