I was living on the Navajo Reservation and there was this four year old girl Gerina that would wake up every morning at sunrise and she'd start just bugging her grandmother saying, "Nana Nana, make me frybread," "Make me some frybread, Nana."
Her grandmother claims she hears the birds nearest to her responding to the birds waking to sunrise elsewhere so she would always wake up about ten minutes before sunrise.
Then she'd already have the bread going and she's already making it; and rather than say "quiet kid you bother me," or anything like that she'd say, "Oh sure. I'll make you somce frybread."
So that's where the song came from; I was just following my pen at that point.
