Once again combining talents for a collaboration on Sprout, Label boss Christian Wedekind (D-Nox) and Frank Beckers return with the 'My Way' compilation. Upfront, modernistic, slick .. just a few words I can use to describe the finished result .. their accomplished techno / house hybrid sound knowing no limits when it comes to sharpness & creativity.

Featuring tracks from some of the most forward thinking artists to feature on the label including D-Nox & Beckers themselves, 'My Way' is a salient collection of definitive sounds.

Equatorial sounds seep through the temperate yet intricately constructed score of Astronivo's 'Offline'. Instrumentals layered in jazz-like arrangements are coupled with an intelligent groove to bring chilled vibes with bubbling energy to the fore.

D-Nox & Beckers take things up a notch with their own production 'Warning'. Tense siren-like pads increase in amplitude through a myriad of tech fx and stuttered vocal motif. Substantial and dynamic in its progression, the resounding emotion of this track is intrepid gutsyness.

Cherry Pie is the absorbing abstract composition from Fiord. Delve into this track and you will find a diverse montage of techno sounds capture the senses and steer through a landscape of gentle grooves and lucid dreams.

Victor Luis provides a darker framework for his beats with ribbons of techno sounds and a menacing vocal sample to seal the intense, maniacal tone of the track. A slow-burner, this one drips with indulgent pianos and intriguing perc arrangements ascend through falling pads to create an unearthly eeriness.

Standout track for me is 'Dipole' with it's infectious tech house grooves, warm thread of side-chained melody and springy top-end retorting synth lines. Blatantly danceable this is a shuffling beat I could never grow tired of, the pulsating chords, emotive and satisfying are the elemental excellence of this track from SQL.

Snatching the baton from 'Dipole' with a fierce rolling bassline, D-Nox & Beckers round off the compilation with 'Black Sand', the second of their own collabs on the release. Sonorous gratification meets an advancing waspy top end synth, suspensefully leading into a section which drops the bass completely but introduces echoing vocals and an intense jabbing off key piano. Next a complete change of pitch and tone as the groove continues in its capacity to enthrall. Totally unpredictable and somewhat avant-garde.

Streets ahead in terms of intrinsic originality, this compilation of previously unreleased tracks from the Berlin based label is an essential showcase for the renegade ear.
