Evan Sutton aka Astrolith has been making experimental music since Moses wore short pants. Combining an academic background in sound design with an appreciation for funk, hip-hop, punk, pop and dance music, Sutton’s sound is smart, futuristic and undeniably danceable. With this culturally astute approach to his work, his music veers toward breaking new ground while staying head-nod accessible.

Sutton is moving at a furious pace and quickly becoming a fixture in Brooklyn’s electronic music scene. In addition to his own music, he has mixed and contributed to productions produced by and featuring Matt Shadetek, Beauty Feast, Riff Raff (recorded by Diplo) and Wendy Versus, in addition to collaborating with a wide variety of pop and dance producers on both sides of the U.S.

Under his most recent pseudonym, he offers a forward-thinking take on club and electronic music, exploring hip-hop, electro-funk, techno, and glitch while maintaining his west coast attitude. He has shared the stage with the likes of Robot Koch, Dorian Concept, and TOKiMONSTA, among many others. Sutton has the unique ability to rock a crowd with live sets consisting almost entirely of original material.

His second EP, Utility Food, is his most club-friendly yet, and will be released on Brooklyn’s Space is the Place on September 11, 2012. It will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon, Google Play, and Rhapsody.
