Ashley Casselle's lush deep house-techno-disco blend (with a hint of indie occasionally) has won him fans from all corners of the globe.
As comfortable djing in twisted dark rooms in the twilight underworlds of LA, London or Moscow as he is playing to crowds at festivals and headlining main rooms, Ashley's a unique dj who understands how to release the excitement levels continuously in the mix and work a room with a bit of dancefloor magic during his trademark 'grooveathon' sets.
'Dayrise Enterprise' is a lovingly crafted new series of dancefloor-electronica dj mixes and tracks created specially to slot into his new world of lush sounds, many of these co-created with a crop of favoured artists/djs such as Berlin's Future Beat Alliance, Asad Rizvi and Justin Steel.
When djs Andrew Weatherall, Laurent Garnier and Inxec recently played some upfront Casselle promos in their club and radio playlists it showed us all how this artist is firmly set to evolve on his own merits, setting the scenes rather than following them, gaining full support from his peers.
Since being singled out by DJ Mag and Mixmag in 2003 as a 'future deck hero', his name has become synonomous with quality electronic music. Releases on the Deviant and Junior Boys Own labels climbed club charts and secured top reviews, helping along a steady rise to international dj status. Scoring residencies and guest slots in clubs such as Giant LA, Zouk Singapore, Warung Brazil, Womb Japan, Space Ibiza and Pyramidia Russia. This led up to his artist album release in 2007 on the Global Underground label, with 'Too Low To Miss' by The Remote gaining cult success and a new audience for its experimental blend of indie vocals, dark disco and 80's infused electronica. This and some extensive touring of the USA helped him edge into the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll, taking him and his records even further round the globe. More recently he's earned guest slots at SuperFreq (the legendary Mr.C's clubnight) and East London's rave paradise 93 Ft East.
Defined as much by productions and remixes under various monikers (Ashtrax, The Amourists, The Remote, Casselle) as he is by his ever shifting dj sound (reflected in mix compilations such as the deep and daring Deviations, his Radio1 Essential Mix and recently the Ashmachine Live series) he's been working on remixes for Paper Recordings and Wall of Sound with some new music forthcoming for labels such as New York's AIR Recordings.
