Ashes of August is the songwriting moniker of 'me' - Tim Beals. My music regularly features delicate vocal harmonies over intricate guitar playing. It has been my intention to write with honesty and sincerity without being over-stated, and I hope that my work reflects this effort. My songs are about love and loss - hopes and fears. It is an intimate and emotional offering.

I recently released my debut recording ‘Truth You Know EP’ through Border Music (NZ) receiving rave reviews. Recording the ‘old fashioned way’ to 1/4” analogue tape reels, Truth You Know EP was largely captured in single takes in the hills of Brooklyn in June 2008, against the wet and wintry backdrop of Wellington City. I am currently working on an album, which I hope to have ready by the end of the year.

I have recently made the move to Vancouver BC (CAN) with the hope of making music all the time. Wish me luck!
