About
LABELS: Stride Recordings
Toronto’s ARTIFICE has been producing his unique and fresh blend of experimental, downtempo low-end grooves for well over a decade now. Cutting his boardwork teeth in the early 2000s, he crafted his sound and honed his skills by creating sample-heavy Techno and experimental Trance and Industrial music, drawing inspiration from a vast array of influences ranging from Horror and Science Fiction films to early 90s Hip Hop to artists like Vangelis, Tangerine Dream and seminal acts like Aphex Twin and Kraftwerk. He began to release music with his independent Full Code Media imprint around 2002, while founding Full Code Soundsystem with partners C-10 and Statistic in 2010 to promote and create events with.
His approach to Drum & Bass is largely, but not solely geared towards the esoteric Minimal and Atmospheric side, with his sound boasting dreamy basslines and soul/jazz-fused drum patterns and samples. His polished live sets have taken him as far as Calgary, Montreal and several major US hubs including Detroit and Madison, WI when he’s not rocking hometown crowds across the 416. He also hosts a 1 hour live mix session called Artifical Selection every Sunday evening from 8-9pm EST on www.themurk.com which are also archived in video form at youtube.com/artificednb. Artifice is definitely one of Canada’s most exciting young prospects and his musical output continues to soar both creatively in quality and in quantity.

@Schematic: yeah, sound design issue more than anything. i get so squirrely about my subs, because i never feel like i can trust the monitoring here.
@Beepo: weird... Schematic said the sub in my rough master was overpowering, and brought it down. I haven't played this out on a big system yet, but it sounds good to me at home and on HD25, blends OK with the stuff I've mixed it against.
Nice bit of business, man.
@coopershot: thanks man! i was just checking your stuff out, much thumbs up
