Arms Were Youth is a producer of pastoral electronic music, of which he is slavishly devoted. He is fond of using tape and prefers imperfect sound.
He has previously worked as a mix engineer for a dance label, run a mining company, and been involved in petty larceny. He is also the heir of a modesty that is criminally vulgar. His heroes are Bill Evans, Sasu Ripatti, Larry Heard, Carl Craig, Manfred Eicher, Arve Henriksen, and Neil Young.
As his doctorate verges on the edge on completion, he is hoping that electronic music will save his soul from the academe.
"a buzzing, bubbling mixture of different textures and sounds that's disorientating at first but soon makes sense."
