In the 80s I always used to listen with red ears to 'In The Mix' (weekly program) and the 'Grandmixes' (year mixes) by Ben Liebrand, and to every mix what was on radio that time (from '82 and on). I started buying 'Disco Breaks' mix LP's, made by Peter Slaghuis ('Hithouse' from New Shooz's 'I can't wait'). My first megamix ever, was done with a sampling keyboard, glueing samples to together in one megamix (mono recorded on a radio/cassette recorder!). Later on I mixed with a pickup/radio/cassette recorder combination. Two double cassette recorders later (one as part of a HiFi tower, one as a stand-alone), I bought two SoundLab pickups with pitch controls, which I heavily used. The two CD players with pitch controls I bought from a dance school were not used much, for they were not quick starting. I still have the pickups though & I recently have set them up with a new mixer (reliving the good old times!...). ;)
With the coming of the PC, I started mixing with software mostly
(in chronical order): Cool Edit, SoundForge Pro, Acid Pro, MixMeister, MixCraft and finally FL Studio and Ableton Life (samples sometimes edited with Audacity).
- There is someone called (DJ) ARG (Germany) but that's not me.! I'm "ARG Prodz" (NL), although I named myself "(DJ) ARG" before (when I created my SoundCloud account, there was no other DJ ARG around worldwide with a website).
- I previously had "DJ ARG Music .com" - a new site is in the making.
- "ARG Productions 1" @ YouTube is mostly used for favorites.
