This a recording of a performance by myself and Aris Daryono that took place as part of the Indonesia Kontemporer event in the Brunei Gallery at SOAS, 15th October 2011. It's an improvisation based on a piece by Aris that we have been developing over a series of sessions using the instruments the Southbank Centre.
The gamelan instruments were played live by Aris. I was sitting in the gong section with a computer, mixer and various controllers, and took loops of each element, manipulating them and introducing reverb and feedback, forming a rich texture.
Due to limited setup time I ran everything including mics through my own mixer on stage and monitored on headphones - hence the sound is quite rough at times but a very interesting experience.
