Divine Mutation Planet Earthling Musicians From Another World!
a somewhat laughable attempt at Tuvan throat-singing. so i pitched the vocals a 5th apart to add some flavor.

@Arcana Red: Heh! Heh! That was the scene from Monty Python's Holy Grail as King Arthur approaches, I think it was Doune Castle, to the sound of horse hooves clopping only for Terry Gilliam to arrive behind him with two coconut shells. I bought 60 Horses in My Herd about 15 years ago and was astounded by it. I even got to see Yat Kha perform in the rain at the Fish Quay Festival in North Shields at least a decade ago. I tried it once but ended up with a sore throat that felt like I was swallowing needles! Hence the warning!

@John McLaughlin: Thanks John! I certainly respect...revere Mr. Zappa. That's quite a hilarious visual you have there! I've been fascinated by throat singing for some time now. The movie Genghis Blues sort of brought that back for me. This was one of those tracks for me where I was like "How the hell did this happen?" Needless to say it was an entertaining experience. Thanks for the tip/warning! Ahh, the secret for me is hot tea and honey. Lot's of honey! I used to buy those bears with honey in them and eat the whole thing behind stage between scenes, lol.

This reminds me of Zappa's Civilization Phaze III in places - he used to have the Huun Huur Tu boys come around to his place for a singalong. Also, I could not get rid of the picture of Terry Gilliam with two coconut shells everytime the dum-tee-dum-tee-dum bit came on. All in all a fascinating piece! Go easy on the throat singing - it'll hurt your throat!

@Arcana Red: coooool!! I shall look more into this, definetly sounds worth aspiring to and i look forward to hearing your results. In the meantime however I shall continue to cheat using a simple graintable oscillator or 3 :))

@dj-nitrus: it's a mix of electroacoustic and digital. the more metallic sounds are amplified copper sprigs that make unusual sounds to the touch. i'm also gurgling, grunting. I had the vocals pitched a 5th above. It helped because I'm not very good at Tibetan Throat singing. I can sometimes sing 2 notes simultaneously, but not much control...yet. ;-)
