About
ARBO, MUSIC XYLOGRAPHY
Postrock, jazz, drum and bass, technoir and ambient have been melted in this multimedia ensemble transforming trees into hands tying earth with sky. Trees that are rivers with eight channels, like snakes tied to the horizon. Like wooden lightnings, spreading roots around the spirit, and reaching the night sky with their branches.
The live performances of Fernando Gonzalez have included visual narrative by Antonio Dominguez, granular synthesis by Christopher Sandoval, spoken word by Karin Mijangos and performance acts by Lizette Abraham; in forums such as Casa de Cultura Condesa in Mexico City and British-American Museum.
Arbo has made a collaborative work with Ksenia Rezvaya, singer and composer from Moscow, co-authoring two art-rock tracks, using social networks as means of composing and arranging.
Fernando created the soundtrack for the short film “Fireflies” by Carlos Jaime, the documentaries: “Quetzal” and “Golden Eagle” by Eccardi Fulvio; and FANP documentary about wilderness and biosphere in Mexico.
The interactive pieces of Arbo, have been exhibited in galleries such as the Tin Tabernacle in London and the Rochester Museum of Science in New York.
In Arbo, piano and guitar intertwine nostalgia for woods without gates, with urban allegories from Octavio Paz, Morabito, Cortazar, Borges and Mijangos, and with murmured melodies by the ghosts of Julio Revueltas and Jorge Reyes.
