HARDLIFE is a brand-spanking new Dalston party formed by DJs Emma, Rob Mathie, Sean Clare, Höhle and promoter Paul Riddle.

The experienced crew bring a very modern take on the classic house sounds of Chicago and Detroit with some beatdown disco vibrations. Think early Cajual vocals, Salsoul screamers and vintage Moodymann 12s and you’ll start to get a feel for what’s in their bags.

Saturday 21st April marks the first Hardlife party in the heart of Dalston and coincides with Record Store Day. £3 B4 12, £5 thereafter

Hardlife's affection for vinyl is reflected in their first headline guest, House of Traps. The Firecracker Recordings head honcho is behind a true buy-on-sight label - home to Linkwood, Fudge Fingas and Vakula. Often found DJing alongside the Firecracker collective, this is a rare chance to see the main man take centre stage.

Firecracker Recordings are renowned for their inimitable attention to detail in their vinyl releases. Silk and screen prints, coloured vinyl and hand-stamped sleeves adorn their 10” and 12” releases. There will be a super-limited run of Fudge Fingas’ latest EP available on the day as part of Hardlife's collaboration with Kristina Records in Dalston. To top it off, House of Traps will be playing a special in-store set during the day and there will be a couple of the hand-printed Ettore Sottsass-bagged releases held back for friends of Hardlife. Don’t sleep!
