About
Antony's love affair with house music dates back over 20 years, a friend at the time (1990ish) invited him to Kilpin nightclub near Howden where he saw a live performance by Rozzala of Everybodys Free fame, from here on in he was hooked and started going to the huge raves, taking in the sounds played by the likes of Joey Beltram, Carl Cox and p.a's such as N-Joi and Shades Of Rhythm.
As the scene split into genres the music and people were heading to the nightclubs rather than big one off events, after a few hazy years spent at clubs like Angels (Burnley) and Bowlers (Manchester) Antony started to get the DJ bug!
Overnight though, sometime in 1994, his musical taste seemed to change, he had a friend (Adam Broadbent) who was into the U.S House & Garage sound, Antony quickly picked up on this sound and started buying and listening to the likes of Dj Sneak, Boo Williams, Cajmere and Kerri Chandler to name a few, he started Dj'ing at an after hours club in Huddersfield called Montegos, it was a nororious place for all types of reasons but it was where he cut his teeth!
Antony started promoting his own night with Adam in the mid 90's called Lola Loves, from this they played at various venues all over Yorkshire and beyond!
Fast forward 10 years and Antony is at it again (not that he ever wasn't, it was just a lot quieter!), his music policy hasn't changed dramatically he's just tuffened things up a little, its just "solid house music" as he likes to say.
2009/10 has seen him Dj'ing a lot on the free party scene in the Yorkshire and Humberside areas and the response has been awesome to say the least, quality music been dropped on the likes of Compression Sound System, Foghorn Sound System, Pure Techno and Anonymous Sound Systems!
Antony has also been promoting his own night Automatique which has seen the likes of Matt Long (mono_cult), Pram Dj's Oliver Agudo and the Serif Records team grace the decks. Automatique is based on the quality of artists and not hyped up names who fail to deliver......... so watch this space in 2011!
