About
Composer, arranger, orchestrator and drummer hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Antonio's talents expand in many directions. Starting in music at the somewhat belated aged of 14, Antonio's passion for music quickly grew and he found himself constantly playing in São Paulo's strong independent underground rock scene. After a couple of recordings and many live gigs around the city, Antonio decided to expand his musical reaches into higher education, as he entered the Conservatorio Souza Lima, renowned music education institution, where he continued to study and develop under the care of professors such as Carlos Ezequiel, Daniel Maudonnet, Rodrigo Morte, Sizão Machado and Nenê.
His interests quickly expanded beyond the scope of drumming and he began composing for jazz ensembles, small and large, quickly earning the respect of his colleagues for his inventive arrangements that blended Brazilian, Latin, Jazz, and Pop idioms with orchestral sensibilities, found in the works of artists such as Maria Schneider, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Aaron Parks. Soon after completing his studies, Antonio applied for and was awarded a composition scholarship at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he enrolled in Jan. of 2010 in order to study film scoring, composition and electronic production.
As of Spring 2011, Antonio continues to diversify his interests and is currently taking orchestration, film scoring, game scoring, drumming and electronic production classes, keeping his name in the Dean's List and collaborating with fellow students in several projects, including one to produce a symphonic composition for the BCSO. His passion for music ever enthusiastic and strong, Antonio is definitely a name to watch out for in coming years!
