ONCE there was a gentleman who married, for his second wife, the proudest and most haughty woman that was ever seen. She had, by a former husband, coach factory outlet two daughters of her own humor, who were, indeed, exactly like her in all things. He had likewise, by another wife, a young daughter, but of unparalleled goodness and sweetness of temper, which michael kors outlet online she took from her mother, who was the best creature in the world.
No sooner were the ceremonies of the wedding over but the mother-in-law began to show herself in her true colors. She coach outlet could not bear the good qualities of this pretty girl, and the less because they made her own daughters appear coach factory the more odious. She employed her in the meanest work of the house: she scoured the dishes, tables, etc., and scrubbed madamâs chamber, and those of misses, her daughters; she lay up in a sorry garret, upon a wretched straw bed, while her sisters lay in fine rooms, with floors all coach outlet online inlaid, upon beds of the very newest fashion, and where they had looking-glasses so large that they might see themselves at their full length from head to foot.
The poor girl bore all patiently, louis vuitton outlet and dared not tell her father, who would have rattled her off; for his wife governed him entirely. When she had done her work, she used to go into the chimney-corner, and sit louis vuitton outlet online down among cinders and ashes, which made her commonly be called Cinderwench; but the youngest, who was not so rude and uncivil as the eldest, called her Cinderella. However, Cinderella, notwithstanding her mean Coach Outlet Store Online apparel, was a hundred times handsomer than her sisters, though they were always dressed very richly.

Look, we all know Sufy doesn't use autotune to correct his pitch. He uses it as a vocal effect. No one goes around saying "It's a shame he uses reverb" or "This would be so good if he didn't overdub his tracks"

@Fuzzwerks: i love discussions like these! lol I respect both Kanye and Sufjan for their music. Yes, Sufjan is way more gifted when it comes to instrumentation and singing, but Kanye has worked with people like Jon Brion on Late Registration and Bon Iver on MBDTF to create a great experience that's all his vision. Heck, I'd love to see a Sufjan X Kanye collab lol

@phil_young: There have been Katy Perrys and Justin Biebers in every single decade - they have not "destroyed" anything. I promise you that Sufjan could be a LOT more well known, but the choices he makes (not working with big-name acts, not releasing on huge labels to get big airplay) are conscious ones he makes based on what he wants to do. This isn't a case of "shitty pop artists get all the attention so great talent can't shine through" - Sufjan and Kanye are working in different genres with different agendas and different convictions about what they want to do. Being mainstream popular has NOTHING to do with how good you are at composing in a classical sense, or how good you are at playing your instrument, or how amazing of a singer you are, or how genuinely artistic and boundary-pushing your work is - at most it requires a little bit of a few of those things. Nobody intelligent is lauding Katy Perry as "brilliant". Pop music has never had too much "brilliance" in it. I promise you Sufjan and anticon-member Why? are not staying up at night wishing they could get their music video on MTV or be #1 on the charts. I'm pretty sick of this "all the great artists go unrecognized and talentless hacks are the ones that get famous" narrative because people have been saying that for decades and it's naive, antagonistic, and reductive to the extreme. I doubt anybody in Sufjan's industry position actually believes it.

@phil_young: But Kanye West is a GREAT producer! He has great skills, probably understands a LOT more about music theory than you realize, and almost definitely inspired the intro to the track you're commenting on. He just works in a musical style - hip-hop - that you aren't used to, and that you have biases against. You're writing off entire genres of music because you don't think they have "musical knowledge", but I promise if you look into dubstep producers (even bro-step Skrillex-style shit) you will realize that even if they produce trite music in genres that you can't relate to, a LOT of them (at least the semi-successful not-just-starting-out type) know what they're talking about. You ever read a Skrillex interview? Hate him for his music, but he is a smart man. He talks a lot about Burial and Aphex Twin, he has a huge respect for his genre, I can promise he can write you a cute indie-pop love song if he tried, and he does all this even while bastardizing electronic music in popular opinion. The "producers" you're talking about are mostly the type with three tracks on Soundcloud and nothing else. They aren't some popular music majority threatening to destroy musical techniques and structures out of ignorance.

@phil_young: I agree, but it's really not fair to stereotype electronic music as just people who know how to use computers and synthesizers - even artists who work purely in electronic contexts often know a lot more about composition and songwriting than you might think - many (or most) got into electronic music from playing and writing in other styles. That being said, I'm also a sucker for electronic + acoustic type stuff, and this track (and Sufjan's electronic tracks) are absolutely beautiful in that regard

Could have done without the autotune in the intro. Otherwise, a great example of the FUTURE!
