Once upon a time…there was a little boy grown up in an East German micropolis near Berlin. Due to David Hasselhoff’s advice his depressing and gloomy home town became wonderfully beautiful and colored and there was nothing on earth more beautiful for this little bully than to explore the vast expanse of digital cosmos which didn’t exist before on his whole GDR planet at any place or any time. In fact his mother didn’t had money to buy him the Nintendo Entertainment System or a Gameboy but it didn’t really matter.
But when his best friend wasn’t in the mood to sit in his room and watch telly – because this nerd preferred to play outsides with fucking sticks – the little boy just threatened him to quit their friendship. Surprisingly this worked very well even though the other boy had much more friends!
One of these days little boy’s mama presented him a so-called keyboard instrument. No, it wasn’t a pianoforte…because that time pianofortes didn’t work digitally. Some they called it e-piano or simply keyboard. The mother’s reason to do this for her boy: junior saw one like this at one guy he just knew and threatened his mother to stop being her son if he wouldn’t get one like this. Another reason was probably her guilty conscience because she missed to present her little boy an acoustic guitar since he played his first tones at the age of 6 on father’s guitar – which was probably bought in youth times as dust catcher – the same guitar little boy found long long time ago at grand mother’s house and he was not allowed to take with.
So this little boy had music in his blood!
Once in school his music teacher presented a tape with weird sounds and and explained that “Peter and the wolf” was made by synthesizers. The little boy didn’t know about that; but it sounded awesome and he was conscious that this must be the development of Nintendo Entertainment System.
Some years later… deeply inspired by diverse video games he used to play if he wasn’t busy with his punk rock band founded in the meantime…
Yes, punk rock band. Over the years the boy found out that it makes really fun to play with fucking sticks as long as he can smash on things which make massive sounds. But drums were too expensive and he enjoyed playing melodies…well, later on he found a new game. It wasn’t really a game, it was rather a program, as a matter of fact: music program. Such a program you can tinker truly digital music with synthesizers and staff like that. Aaaaaaaand it was made for the legendary Sony Play Station (1) – the “Music Creation for the Play Station”.
The foundation stone was laid!
But the program sounds didn’t settle his claims. One day the blood young man he became lost the interest and put his focus on his essential task: making Punk-Rock-Metal and kind-a-staff. But doesn’t mean that he would not make his punk buddies life a living hell whiles bringing in new ideas during pushing the buttons.
Again some years later it went on again, he hardly achieved a laptop and a professional music program to create electronic sounds. Three years past by with Mortal Combat Soundtrack in his mind (a video game – but more the soundtrack of the same named movie) and a hell of a lot of synthetic music he developed in the meantime until he started to understand what exactly he should do to assemble his musical imaginations into audible material.
The way is long and there is still a lot to discover. But as generally known: the way is the aim and you can listen to the results here inter alia.
Hope you’ll like it!
