One thing with which I believe to be the trademark of your compositions are those fantastic strings: they evoke amazing atmospheres while mingling with other, unconventional yet powerful sounds.. They are expressive as interplay ( but would it be actually an over-lay?)with whichever other sound they combine; they are the most fabulous clothings on a scaffold which allows for great imagery. Zitan, as always - it's great Thank you so much for providing a wonderful start to the fireworks of GuyFawkes beginning out there...!.

    With my best wishes

    Song for the Dead
    on November 02, 2012 12:16

Hi Anders, This very atmospheric composition evokes not so much evil spirits as it does that of tiny baby ghosts floating out of rocking cradles... leaving behind an ice cold place and curtains that flap endlessly in the wind; in the nearby cemetery a striking church bell completes the eerie sense of foreboding; the small tinkling sound a sole reminder of infant souls departed. A great mixing of sounds piano to pianissimo.. gorgeous ,moving. Thank you for this- and looking forward to more,

    Best wishes, Annalena.

    Zitan - Panacea
    on October 25, 2012 09:10

A beautifully haunting theme uncoils itself spring by rusty spring in eerie surroundings. It is ghosts hour. Out of the mists ,enshrined in skeins of dusty cobwebs the age old skeleton uncoils it creaky joints , gathering pace to join his orchestral tune. It has long been past expressing itself with words; they are to ambiguous and vague subject to so many misunderstandings; they leave him frozen cold. Only the creaky hinges of rusty broken metal form in the yard ...bring him to step out...if he still remembers that he used to be a person that time is now- creeping , ticking away, imperceptibly straining to hear the mournful strings; faint at first then louder, imbuing the veiled scene with pure aspiration. For years he stood, staring into a precipice, poised as he was on the edge of brilliance, haunted by the knowledge of its proximity yet remaining always just outside his reach...
But now he rights his creaky skull to better follow the narrative of strings each ghostly hour the solution closer, nearer. All the flaws that he is carrying on his shoulders ,which keep waking him night after night...so demonstrably dwelling on the wrong side, propelling him towards the narrative. He is creeping along; even the rusty spring still grinding on. For it and they will have to be there again at the ghostly hour of tomorrow, and the next, and the next... Until, with a fatal impatience of sentimentality one of the coils or the strings will snap.
    *
It would have become then: become what it always has been, aware of the unthinking cruelty discreetly coiled within those ever pleading assurances. That everyone can discover and reinvent themselves...even at such late hour.

Zitan, I enjoyed listening to Panacea many times over. Thank you for your sheer, pure brilliance.

    Annalena:)

    Dear Himuro Yoshiteru

Hope you won't mind but I am not very adept at expressing whatever sensations from a piece by short bursts, especially when there is an incredible mix of sounds like in your I Am Here: its rather classical string openning progresses into the deep bass for fantastic atmosphere.. then it feels like some giant is plucking the insides of his cheeks for effect! great mix of sounds all through- the overlaid chorus comes in for added plasticity: minny-miny-minny- plasticity. Big daddy bass supporting them all.. fabulous beat, man. But then this is just my interpretation and i hope you will like it.

    Looking out for more!

    Best wishes

    Annalena

Your Love is Like the Sun - Paul Mahabir 'Mabzi'
    on October 11, 2012 17:59

The bass tweak is an absolute mellowing of the marrow; lovely guitar amazingly floats above but in synchrony; the second one- ephemeral sound.

( must say it alleviated a toothache which seemed persistent...)

It most certainly brings to mind what a kind smile can achieve- it lights up the room. Or adds to the muninosity of a sunny sky. Very well done, Paul!

    Zitan - Recollect
    on October 09, 2012 17:06

A composition to which plain words don't seem to do justice as it ffronts one from many different levels of perception. There is the haunting feeling of otherworldly spectre: a spirit seen inhabiting the other side from the start; a shadow of a figure watching from behind the curtain of water.

Incomparable combination of sound acoustics ; is it that- slightly Mickey-Mousy fragile, disintegrating voice whose quality is about to completely disappear, disintegrating as it is at times?... After all it has come here from a nether-world; its frequencies not as strong ; its fragility hand in hand with being ephemeral.
What I absolutely adore is the enmeshment of- and here I confess I erred at first, having been captivated by the mellifluous strings!- of piano WITH everything else. it is the PIANO that has by now captivated the mind and stirs emotions from the far recesses of memory. The absolute purity of those repetitive notes has an idelible effect of stitching together a patchwork :one where dreams enter reality even if only for a while.

They inhabit us between sleep and awakening. They allow for us to glide on gossamer cob-webs which hold the narrative together.. The sounds carry us between ebb an tide - a bit like a circling spiral into sheer bliss...

Ephemeral apparitions cascade through a multi-faceting atmosphere of a musical narrative
superb with beautifully complemented streams:piano, strings and vocals that never once interrupt or collapse upon but enhance each other. marvellous doesn't describe it...

Thank you for this Zitan; it is my first impression of your work and I felt 'dissolved by emotions' listening to it..

    Annalena

Just wondering Paul, did you call the piece Eternal moment back then already? i particularly like the curling trills cascading repeatedly- a bit like a waterfall which is continuously being fed by its invisible source.

The lyrics, full of yearning and hope leave one with a slightly melancholy sense that maybe, just maybe fulfilment is just around the corner...Very emotional piece:)
