Sounding sculptures created by Anna Troisi.
Abstract: “Electroshop”, involves open scores consisting of functional patterns subdivided into blocks (performative/operational score). These blocks contains informations about predetermined rhythmic-melodic-gestural modules and notation of any composer-determined performative and interpretative features. Scores are intended as guidelines for the performers, who are free to improvise within the boundaries of the
modules (controlled improvisation).
Live electronics processes and elaboration typologies are established as well as real time changeable parameters are notated; performative actions on sounding pieces can be manage musical events fixed on score.
During development and rehearsal, musicians are encouraged to experiment interaction with pre-existent sound material played by an audio sequencing software. Real-time processing of chosen sections of instrumental performance are obtained by combined use of plug-ins (e.g. reverberations, delays, filters, pitch shifting, spectral transforming) and original Max/MSP patches.
Aesthetics: “Electroshop” is a “sounding pieces shop” that suggest a selling of original and unique pieces (sounding pieces/musical pieces), through an auction (public sale – performance).
Pieces (sounding piece of art) spectro-morphological features are a binding part of musical piece score, contribuiting to composition and musical language discourse, creating a correspondence between piece (sounding piece of art) and musical piece. In this way the piece agrees to concept of “piece of art uniqueness”.
It is also implied the uniqueness of musical performance: when the piece (sounding piece of art) has been sold it will be impossible to perform again the related musical piece unless “Electroshop” will borrow the sounding piece of art.
Partners: “Nuova Consonanza”, ICCMR (Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research) - University of Plymouth and Electroshop.
