@Skech: I think he was kinda tryin to promote tht newbootleg lable more then aything else, hasnt andy said in most of his tracks he wants to make hard dance fun? people who listen to nothing but deep hard beats must be a little dim inside... i think andys styles a good crossover between the bounce house klubfillers old crowd was into, obvs drum and bass and old hardcore for the dirty reese synths, but with the name strong hard background of a good hard dance track, nothing to do with introducing people to a new genre, but more like, introducing all the hard dance fans to a new era?

@'B-Side' (MalcB): So many points of view I agree to on these comments, I see what Andy has down in the mix like Sam has mentioned, he's giving this hard dance mix a new sense of style a more fun, energetic feel to it, they will be alot of people listenning to Kutski and thinking what is this shit, when really most of this mix was Hard Dub and in today's industry Dubstep is at it's peak and what I think Andy has done really clever, mashed in Hard Dance and Dub, it maybe commercial or not pure hard dance with the dirty kick backs and etc but it gives a taste on what actually hard dance is, personally I think it's an introduction of hard dance to people who don't know what it is, he's trying to give it a good image and I think he's done it well in this mix. That is all, respect to this mix and the tracks he has used, but I agree it would of been nice if he used some original tracks.

@**Hard Dance**: Andy does what he does and people love him for it, im sure hes not bothered about the small minority that always go on about nothings original or its to commercial. Songs get played over and over on the radio this is what makes them commercial. But taking an original outlook on them, in this case the dirty kick backs etc gives it a very fresh twist and ravers love hearing songs they know and can re-late to, to be honest if im at an event and dont hear anything i know or its all just dark underground shit, i get bored! As for the mixing, its on bbc radio 1 i think he just wanted to go for a simpler style beacsue not every1 knows what hes about, if they heard all the chopping, insane cue points, echo, roll etc they might think what the fuck is this. But we all know that Andy live in a club is fucking amazing. You never know the mix may have been pre-recorded on Ableton or anything, alot of things for Radio are, just so they are spot on.

@tidy trax: Both very interesting outlooks, Wain we have to agree with you that the “complex mixes” you mention are very much missed in this mix along with the original Hard Dance tracks, not suggesting that Andy is incapable of such mixing.
Sam we understand your point of view of bridging the gap and think that Fuck vinyl prove that very well with their productions, the point we were trying to make was if NON Hard Dance fans or people that haven’t yet discovered Hard Dance were to have to tuned into radio 1 be it at a recommendation from a friend or just had the radio on etc etc, would they have been left with the feeling of wanting to know more about Hard Dance or would they have felt “well hard dance is just remixes of other genres”
And we also agree that Kutski does an amazing show each week but we feel that’s its more geared up for the more euro sound of Hard Dance.

@**Hard Dance**: Sorry to jump in here but this is something I personally feel quite strongly about.
I think Andy's approach to this set was the right move, it shows Hard music can be both accessable and fun to the general population who have stigmatised 'Hard' music to be noisey boring rubbish.
We all love original music however this approach, showing that songs everyone knows and loves can be re-worked into credible 'Hard Dance' tracks acts a bridging gap for people who might not have previously thought hard music could be fun - something that has been lost over recent years and a fundamental part of the scenes success in years gone by.
Kutski showcases the original sounds of our genre brilliantly week in and week out. Andy shows us here that Hard music can cross into the mainstream with ease and credibility, appealing to both clubbers who like to have a good stomp and people who like to dance and sing to the tracks they know on a Saturday night out.
Just my two pence worth anyway.

@**Hard Dance**: I suggest that Andy is trying to reach a wider audience than just the established hard dance fans. I am sure you are aware of how bad the hard dance scene is at the moment? You could call Andy a 'Sell Out' or you could say he is being very clever! I guess it just depends which side of the fence you sit on. I would have liked to see more original tracks, and Andy mix them differently. Doing cut mix after cut mix is not how Andy Whitby used to mix. He used to be a genius at doing complex mixes that created a whole new track whilst in the mix. Sadly this is not present during the Radio1 mix.

Hi Andy great set some really good bootlegs on here would love to hear this sort of set being played in a club. But with that said do you think you have showcased Hard Dance as well as you possible could on Radio 1?
Not many Dj’s get the opportunity to go on radio 1 and represent their chosen genre.
We have all had a look at the track list and correct us if we are wrong but there is only 1 original Hard Dance track on it, the rest are bootlegs of day time radio tracks do you think non Hard Dance listeners of the radio 1 show would have been impressed with what the genre has to offer based on your set?
Just something to think about
