Here's a little quick demo of Neil Baldwin's PR8 (see http://www.nes-audio.com for more information) synthesizer + drum machine running on actual Nintendo Famicom hardware thru a cartridge I built, we're just ironing out a few little famicom hardware bugs (its pretty much running 100% fine now, just running it for several hours to make sure SRAM saving is all working as it should etc...)
The Famicom has been modded for direct dual mono output from the audio CPU (the 2a03) which means we can seperate the machines synth channels 1+2 from the its 3+4+5 chans via a left/right stereo jack that plugs into the side of the Famicom - info on this mod is available here: http://hackitup.tumblr.com/post/3039352465/hacking-the-nes-famicom-for-split-audio-outs you can hear this at the end of the recording, for convenience I've mixed down the right/left chan in the demo as it's a little weird listening to this on headphones otherwise - but this output is fab for grabbing individual sounds and gives you a FAR better quality output out of this machine with almost zero BG noise... anyway - enjoy, more info on how to build one of these carts for yourself is coming soon :)
