There are all sorts of DJs, but the most successful ones have some distinct personality traits in common. Firstly, you’ve not got to be afraid of the crowd following your every move. You’ve got to be technically skilled, quick to lock the rhythm and tweak the beat. Finally, you’ve got to have some cheek, because a little cheekiness will get you a long way.

Andy Cessford (AKA Loop Corporation) has it sorted. Not afraid of the crowd? Holding a monthly residency at Gatecrasher Nottingham and playing numerous times for the riotous crowds at Pacha, Ministry Of Sound, and many other UK venues along with international gigs in Ibiza and Australia, surely nothing can faze him?

Technically skilled? The combination of DJing with vinyl and CD’s alongside working in a recording studio with digital and analogue equipment left Andy wanting to give more at a gig than traditional DJing methods allowed. Under his Loop Corporation pseudonym Andy uses Ableton and multiple midi controllers to remix tracks and create crazy effects on the fly, processes that are normally reserved for the studio. This ensures every live show or DJ set of bumping, twisted and melodic grooves are performed as a unique aural experience.

Cheeky? It definitely takes some cheek to remix such seminal tracks as Cowgirl, Blue Monday and You’ve Got The Love!

Studying electronic music production at Subbass and furthering that to gain an FDSC in Music technology and BSc (Hons) in Audio and Recording Technology, it’s no wonder his productions and remixes receive global support. BBC Radio Nottingham’s ‘The Beat’ show (the largest listened to show outside London, syndicated across the BBC Midlands network) have aired Loop Corporation productions and aired interviews with Andy. Dance music heavy weights such as Richie Hawtin and James Zabiela along with countless other DJ’s around the globe have supported his productions and Loop Corporation productions have charted in the top 10 downloads on Traxsource and Nowtrax online stores.
