About

Andrew T. Mackay is a British composer, producer, arranger and conductor specialising in cinematic music with an emphasis on orchestral, Indian and Middle Eastern influences.

Andrew studied piano, clarinet and composition at the London College of Music under Dr Lloyd-Webber (Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webbers Father). After graduating with a degree in Western classical music embarked on a non-stop career in music.

Andrew is the Great-Great Grandson of Italian painter, flautist and freedom fighter Luciano Francesco Paggi. His great-great Uncle M. M. Paggi was one of the first sound engineers in Hollywood in the late 1920s. Another Great-Uncle was a make-up artist at Pinewood Studios in the UK working with Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier.

Starting out in advertising and corporate films Andrew was lucky to be able to record weekly with a full orchestra for many large corporate companies in the UK. His corporate work includes the launch of the Fiat 500 at the Royal Albert Hall, Toyota at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, many Motor Show launches for brands such as Jaguar, Mercedes, Ford, Land Rover and further work for BA, BT and many other leading companies.

Andrew eventually moved into film & TV composition scoring documentaries including the five-part series Abdullah for ORTV, the Emmy nominated, award wining Two Or Three Things But Not For Sure by Tina DiFeliciantonio and Jane C. Wagner and three films for Roving Eye including the Kumari, Breaking Stones & Where Woman are Banned.

He won the award for the Best Music Score in New York 2008 for the feature film 'Little Box Of Sweets' (India/UK). For the film 'Florida Road', an American movie about an Indian family based in South Africa, Andrew mixed an African Choir with Semi-Classical Indian vocals which were recorded in South Africa. For the Indian/Spanish production 'Semshook' a road trip from Dharamshala to Tibet, Andrew mixed his Western Classical orchestration with Indian & Tibetan folk music creating a unique score for the film.

Andrew has been recording in India for the last decade and has worked on Indian feature films arranging, orchestrating and conducting string orchestras in Bollywood.
