Andesground es un proyecto musical que nace el año 2006,pionero en Chile en la mezcla,fusion,investigacion y experimentacion sobre el folklore y la musica electronica a partir de experiencias compositivas analogas y digitales,la mezcla de guitarras acusticas,charangos,quenas,zampoñas e instrumentos andinos con soportes tecnologicos como sintetizadores,sampler,cajas de ritmo mas el uso de softwares como plataforma de registro van generando un concepto que va puliendose en cada experiencia,el primer ejercicio sobre esto fue el año 2001,una sesion de estudio entre roberto marquez (illapu),instrumentos acusticos y drum machine.Despues de eso,el 2006 retomo el proyecto abarcando el folklore como motor esencial y eje fundamental en la creacion musical.El primer disco de andesground es "andes on the moon" (2008) se produce "andes on the moon" apoyado por el fondo de la musica y editado por el clasico sello folklorico DICAP,actualemente "altiplano",segunda produccion de andesground se encuentra en proceso de post produccion,estrenado en diciembre del 2011 en el marco del festival mutek en el auditorium del GAM será presentado en agosto del 2011.

Fusing the Chilean folklore with the electronics, Rodrigo Castro (36) – chilean musician of extense trajectory, known in Chile for being the founder of the electronic band called Marciano- entered itself in a new musical proposal called Andesground. Its first work Andes on the Moon, presents 13 songs of the folklore and the new chilean song remade through electronic music -using sequencers and synthesizers-, respecting the sound of the native instruments of the Andes –trompe, trutruca and kultrun- that is mixed harmonically with contemporary sounds.
Andesground takes its name from the mountain range that it crosses Chile from north to the south, transforming terrestrial geography into an intense, versatile and authentic musical geography.
Andes on the moon includes original themes composed by Rodrigo Castro: Amulen, Kashpix, Anchimayen, Patagonia, Mapumoon, Kaufolokan, in which it samples environmental sounds (songs, voices and stories of the indigenous tribe selk ́nam; queltehues -native birds-, among others) registered by diverse investigators of chilean ethnic groups, among them, the musicologist of the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art of Santiago José Pérez de Arce; the chilean musician Osvaldo Torres and Anne Chapman, franc-american anthropologist.
In addition, remixes songs like El derecho de vivir en paz and Luchín of Víctor Jara; Vino del mar composed by Manuel Merino Muñoz (Inti Illimani), and El Cóndor Pasa of the peruvian Daniel Alomia.
The art of the disc - realised by the designer Pablo Castro- feeds the musical and ideological character that proposes Andesground: based on the chilean culture of the seventies, taking like reference the murals that developed the Ramona Parra Brigadein our country.
Andes on the moon is a production under the eaves of the Discoteca del Cantar Popular (Dicap), historical label that in the seventies published chilean musical historical documents, among them productions of groups like Quilapayún and emblematic musicians of the time, like Víctor Jara. By these days it relaunches its catalogue publishing projects that give account of new tendencies, between which is Andesground, and its first disc Andes on the monn, a project that in addition won the Culture Departament recognition Fondo de la Música 2008.
Andesground staging is thought to break with the traditional parameters: as well as Andes on the moon looks for to fuse the popular folklore with digital sounds, on the scene the crossing of visual arts with highly technological instruments, demonstrate that pop music can be re-invented with elements that harness and enriches it. For them in scene Rodrigo Castro leans on the tenori-on, a revolutionary instrument - named by the PCWorld.com site like one of 25 more innovating products in the world-, made up of a matrix of 16×16 interrupting LED that allows to play music in an intuitive form, creating an interface of “visible music”; besides sequences,samplers,synthezizers and folkloric instruments.
The scene is harnessed with iconographic visuals, that reminds trades related to the culture and the chilean folklore, images that are playing and changing according to the rates and songs, as well as color games simulating murals that are drawn and painting in perfect synchronization with music.
