About

ANA+ONE

Ana+one (pronounced anatone) is Toronto based dj/producer Jesse Morrison.

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario; Jesse spent his early years ingesting the steel bits and chemical air of the industrial city he called home. An unwitting consumption perhaps but one that clearly laid claim for the making of an electronic music man of high energy, mind dazzling, blue collar variety.

After a early Plastikman record awakening and a few parties, his eyes were opened to electronic music. He sold his bass guitar and amp. Bought a pair of decks and a mixer. Developed a healthy obsession for record collecting. And began djing out.

By early 2000 he was just arriving in time to catch the wave of minimal/micro goodness that carried the likes of fellow Ontarians Mike Shannon, Jeff Milligan and Scott Monteeth to Montreal. Thus began Ana+one's 5+ year career as a dj, playing various clubs/lounges and loft parties in Montreal.

The years that followed are marked by Ana+one’s shift in focus from dj to producer. He moved to Toronto where he directed his energy exclusively to building his studio skills and to putting together a collection of tracks for release. The result; half dozen remixes for NYC's "Cotopaxi", his first ep "relocated minds", a signing with Siteholder records for second ep "la voix amicale" and a vinyl release of "box of donuts" within the first year. Clear that production was his game, he continued in studio resulting in a number of releases.

After a brief pause, Ana+one has once again begun to make his hometown presence known. Resurfacing as both a promising and established dj/producer, he is introducing his unique sound to a largely new breed of Torontonians. A cut and paste dialogue that combines the funkiness of house with modern techno, he has opened a window in this city to let in a fresh blend of minimal.

With several projects on the go, count on upcoming productions of peak Ana+one precision and feel. Cleverly cut with a slapstick of resilience. Layered with fresh perspective, energy and emotion. Delivered with the finesse of a seasoned journey man, gearing up to roll out a new era of funky in the city he now calls home.
