Building on the success of last years widely supported single Black Holes, Burn The Fleet are back with new track River Song giving us a taste of what to expect from their debut album later this year. Melodic hooks and heavy crunch are still order of the day and as ever Convey’s vocals give River Song the balance between raw power and refined songwriting that’s fast catching the attention of fans and industry tastemakers.
The single also includes a delicate cover of Alexisonfire’s Happiness By The Killowatt and a contrasting dubstep rework of River Song by Southampton producer B-Side (Ben Owens) switching out the guitars for pulsing bass and a double tempo drop half way through that’s destined to rip dancefloors to pieces.
Guitarist Jack Spurway describes the inspiration behind the track: ‘River Song is a polemic blast against the 'traditional' nature of being a musician, that often unrealistic existence of self indulgent narcissism and fantastical irreverence. Its a song written that, we think, embodies the frustration, the love, the thrill and chase of reaching that Holy Grail of real band life - to be defined by thing you love, and to do it forever.
