About

Ambrose Freeman-Toole is a composer from Anchorage, Alaska. He writes music in styles ranging from neo-romantic, to rock and ambient. Composing with Finale 2011 and Pro Tools software, Ambrose writes for full orchestra, rock bands and electronics. In addition to composition, he has a background in audio engineering.

Ambrose grew up in a musical household in Pullman, Washington where he began playing bass and guitar at the age of thirteen. Guided by his father, who holds a Doctorate in Music Composition from the University of Illinois, Ambrose soon took up the mantle and began composing as well. At the age of seventeen he had a CD entitled In The Noctis Labyrinth released by OtterSong Records, an ambient rock label based out of Rancho Santa Margarita, California. By 2007, he had self produced five albums ranging in style from progressive hardcore to electronic.

In 2008, Ambrose began to direct focus towards film-scoring and orchestral music. At this time, he began his current ongoing project; a neo-romantic rock opera entitled Frederic’s Voyage. Since 2010 Ambrose has been a member of the songwriting team for Massachusetts orchestral-rock vocalist, Sarah Van Wyk.
In 2011 was the official composer/arranger for the stage production Mexico Extravaganza: Monaraca based in San Jose.
In 2012 Ambrose Freeman-Toole scored a short film by Steve Thao entitled The Celebration, as well as working with director Mark Howard on a soundtrack for the upcoming film S.PE.E.K.

His own current projects include a set of orchestral images, works for halo drum and ensemble, electronic music, chamber music, and remastering his 2007 release Tales for an October Night. In addition to these endeavors, he is currently seeking new opportunities in film, stage, and audio engineering.
